 My Story

Hi, I'm Nicole Rowe — women's health coach, board-certified Family Practice physician, member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, certified Physician Acupuncturist, and passionate advocate for women's wellness.

Why My Approach is Different

Diet culture and the conventional medical system is failing the women who need help the most. When you hit menopause (or more accurately, menopause hits you) it can feel like everything in your body starts breaking down. What used to work no longer works. You gain weight even though you are eating the same things and doing the same exercise that you always have.

And even worse, women are gaslighted and shamed at every corner: told that they just need to "eat less and move more,"

or "you just need to accept it, every woman in menopause is tired and struggles with weight gain."

I even had a recent client who was told by her doctor to just skip more meals so she could lose weight! (Spoiler alert: she did not need to skip meals. We actually increased what she was eating at breakfast, and she is finally losing the weight she put on during menopause).

Fortunately, there is a much better and healthier way to reach your goals.

I have spent the last 10+ years studying everything science has to say about exercise, nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle adjustments in midlife.

Furthermore, my B.S. in Psychology and additional training in mindfulness and motivational interviewing gives me a unique understanding of not just what needs to change, but how to make those changes stick.

The Psychology of Lasting Change

There are concrete reasons why most diets fail and they have nothing to do with your willpower. Restrictive diets are, in fact, the worst possible way to go about long-term weight loss, because they inevitably lead to you feeling deprived, giving up on the diet, and regaining all the weight you lost (and then some).

Instead, by applying evidence-based psychological principles in my health coaching, I help women break through their mental barriers, rewire self-defeating thought patterns, and build health-promoting systems that leave them feeling proud of themselves and confident in their ability to maintain their results.

Real Results, Real Women

Just ask Kristen*, who not only dropped 7 pounds in 8 weeks but also watched her chronic digestive issues virtually disappear.

Or Melissa*, who had cycled through Weight Watchers, Beach Body, Whole30, and countless other programs before finding me. In her words:

"I tried this without expecting any real results, since nothing had worked for me in the past. I was truly blown away by what happened. I lost two dress sizes and multiple inches all over my body. I feel stronger and have more energy. I don't hate looking at pictures of myself on vacation anymore. And best of all, I haven't even been hungry. I still can eat the foods I like, and splurge on occasional treats, without it derailing my progress."

I've Walked This Path Too

These transformations don't surprise me because I've lived this journey myself. In my 20s, I swung from rigid food control to a frustrating cycle of "healthy" daytime eating, daily uncompromising exercise, and nighttime snacking which derailed all my weight loss efforts. I was frustrated, discouraged, and way too hard on myself.

Everything changed when I started learning more about the science of nutrition, hormone regulation, nervous system regulation, and how our bodies are designed to function.

Armed with this knowledge—and a hefty dose of self-compassion—I was able to lose the weight that had plagued me and keep it off despite later having 3 kids, multiple surgeries, and plenty of life stress.

I returned to my high school weight with ease, then put on an additional 10 pounds of lean muscle and am still going strong in my efforts to build muscle (I'm determined to get through midlife without getting weaker).
